May is exactly 6 days old today! I just started teaching at my high school after a two week vacay, that was very much needed by the way. Perhaps you’ve asked yourself this question? What to do during a break while not being abroad? Well, let me share a lil secret with all you happy singles waiting for ‘the one’.
It’s actually really simple, but not always easy to do! Just invest this time of singleness discovering new talents within yourself, travel to new places and meet new people. Basically just enjoy life as we only have one to live here on this beautiful planet called Earth.
For example: during a night out with friends last year, we decided to attend a Spoken Word Event organized by Art Harder at T’s TeaBar in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. A super chill spot where you can taste different flavors of tea and enjoy delicious goodies, while working or just for a catch up with a friend.
My intention for the evening was to just absorb the inspirational vibes brought by the different artists on the line-up. All of a sudden, the Open Mic was introduced. The theme of the evening was about “Love at a different sight”. So my friends kept encouraging me to share My Divine Spoken Word.
My heart was racing! Funny enough, I was chosen and decided to share “Een Sterke Vrouw” since this poem was birthed from Forbidden Love! I felt so vulnerable sharing this personal poem, but from the sound of the audience’s applause. It was received well!
After the event, the guests received the chance to have a chat with the artists which created a great opportunity for me to network. As L-Deep was being introduced by the MC, I heard his autobiography from being: a journalist at AT5 to teaching Spoken Word Workshops at high schools and so much more. Seconds later, he just blew me away with his five minute Spoken Word Explosion. A true artist stood there performing from the heart!
According to Francis Bacon, knowledge is power! As my passion for poetry grew with my own Divine Spoken Word, Events, WorkShops, Poetry Blog, Bundle and YouTube. I decided to invest in my company: ‘Gilleon’S Hope’ this vacation and ask this Master Mind for some tips and tricks concerning The Media.
I am a strong believer of learning from one another. As I am new to the scene, it’s always nice to receive feedback from other artists such as Luan Buleshkaj, who works for ‘Mensen Zeggen Dingen’ and ‘4XM Workshops’ specialized in poetry. The meeting was very helpful enabling me to continue developing my brand professionally!
As you can see, when you least expect it. Surprises can be found in every corner, you just have to be wide awake to seek and find them. Such as the next surprise of the night, when illustrator Koosje Koene showed me her different sketches of the evening including a drawing of: Me, Myself and I!
