Oh my goodness, August is my favorite month of the year! I get butterflies in my tummy knowing I can just chill & relax in my garden and enjoy the summer weather. No alarm clocks, no time tables, no grading papers or poetry appointments! It’s the best feeling in the world to have all this time for: Me, Myself and I!
Believe it or not! I was born on the 19th of this month in the year of 1982, which means I’ll be turning 37 in a couple of days. Looking back at the age of 36, I must admit that I am proud of my accomplishments! It hasn’t always been easy, but it has taught me to persevere which made me stronger and wiser. I thank The Most High for guiding me on this journey called: LIFE!
Unfortunately, I had to learn ‘how to keep life’s balance’ the hard way! I used to be such a workaholic! Wasting and using energy I didn’t have changed my life dramatically! Six years ago, I experienced a horrible burn-out! I promised myself to never fall that deep ever again! Neither did it help to allow certain people in my inner-circle. All these stressful situations in my life weren’t healthy for: my mind, body and soul.
So I decided to get a coach who helped me to set boundaries at work, in relationships and choose ‘ME’ more. Until this day it is a hard thing to do as I am career-driven and a passionate giver! Growing older, I realized that people come and go in my life always leaving a reason or season behind. The ones who have been in my life for more than a decade, I truly believe will stay for a lifetime. I pray precious blessings upon all of them!
Even though life is still busy, now I make sure to make time for some of my favorite things which gives me positive energy like: quality time with family & friends, travel, concerts, theaters, movies, museums, books, fashion, wellness & beauty. I can go on and on, but to sum it up: just rest and enjoy life! Recently, I wrote a Spoken Word called Equilibrium about this season! Check it out on my Blog!
After 16 years, I am celebrating my summer holiday in the Netherlands as I have been traveling the globe for the past years! It feels good to be at home and work on my to do list. It gives me clarity of mind, inspires my spirit to be creative and energizes my body to start teaching in a couple of weeks!
